It is one of three ground-floor units in a small residential building; the other two are separate apartments with their own doors. The garbage collection point is just outside the building. There is no parking at the building; coin parking is 2 minutes away. Self check-in with a smart lock, so you can arrive at any hour, even after a late flight. We are not on site but always a message away in the Airbnb app: directions, appliances, restaurant and ski tips. We usually reply within minutes, a little slower late at night. Local staff can come by if something needs attention, and immediately in an emergency. Otherwise we leave you to enjoy Sapporo in private. Our building stands in a quiet residential pocket of Kita-ku, in the Kita 15 to Kita 18 blocks, a few minutes north of Sapporo Station and right beside Hokkaido University. It is the calm side of the city: tree-lined streets, students, families and small local restaurants, with downtown one short subway ride away. The essentials are close: a convenience store 2 minutes on foot, the Dinner Bell supermarket about 5 minutes, and coin parking 2 minutes away. Around the station and along the way to the university you will find soup-curry shops (Picante is a local favorite), ramen, cafes, izakaya and bakeries. Hokkaido University's campus with its poplar avenue and museum is a 6-minute walk and lovely in every season, and the university hospital is next to it. From Kita-18-jo Station the Namboku Line takes you to Sapporo Station in 2 stops (about 4 minutes), Odori Park in 4 minutes and Susukino in 6, so the Snow Festival, the Clock Tower, the TV Tower, Nijo Market, the beer garden and the nightlife are all a few minutes away, and Sapporo Station is even walkable in about 15 minutes.
